Established in 2017, the Anderson-Hopkins Award for Excellence in the Theater Arts is given to established artists in the DC theater community who have during their career enriched the Washington, DC Theater with their contributions over the years with the anticipation that they will continue to enrich audience in the years to come.
The Anderson Hopkins Award for Excellence in the Theater Arts in Washington is made annually to one or more recipients, at the discretion of the donor.
Recipients of the Anderson-Hopkins Award for Excellence in the Theater Arts have been performing for a minimum of 10 years, with at least two performances during the last two years. During their career they have shown evidence of their contribution to theater excellence by either critical acclaim in reviews; Helen Hayes nominations; or other recognition during their career. The award is intended to recognize a body of work and not a single performance.
